SABAKA

Following years of slogging it out in rehearsal rooms, garden sheds and village halls - Jamie Keeling (bass/lead vocals), Jake Moore (guitars/backing vocals) and Dan Wilde (drums/percussion) - came together to form the definitive line-up of Sabaka in February 2005. Early rehearsals showed a lot of promise, with songs flowing thick and fast from this tight-knit, cohesive song-writing unit. Naturally, it wasn't too long before this fledgling line-up wanted a taste of the road, and the perfect opportunity presented itself on March 28th, where the band played an early slot at Edward's Number 8, Birmingham. Despite the set being padded out with a couple of cover versions, and the band's own material still very much in it's infancy, the response was encouraging. The band proceeded to lock themselves in their rehearsal space for the next few months, writing and developing new material, laying down demo tracks, and working up an impressive gig schedule (that has since seen them given the title of "the hardest working band in Shropshire"!). Writing not even a year on from the inception of this line-up, their acheivements to date are none-the-less impressive. An Autumn/Winter tour has seen Sabaka sow their musical seed all over the Midlands and beyond, notably, with a headline slot at the Little Civic, Wolverhampton, in November (with The Imperial Vipers), and regular dates at the prestigious Edward's Number Eight, Birmingham. A long-awaited demo EP is now in the can, and awaiting a full general release in the New Year. The bands schedule for 2006 is already filling up, with a date at the Cavern Club, Liverpool, already confirmed! As we speak, Sabaka are holed up in their rehearsal space, cooking up some magnificent new music to blow your bollocks off in 2006 and beyond!! Rock on! Biography by David Wall-Khapettin
